Our Folk

Our family has strong ties to the Limestone Coast, with many fond holiday memories and farming roots that span multiple generations. So, when the opportunity arose for us to purchase Norfolk Rise back in 2021, it seemed like a natural progression, albeit an exciting one. Since then, it’s been all hands on deck, with two generations of the McBride family pitching in.

But it’s not just our family who have made this endeavour possible. It’s the support of a wonderful team and extended community, including many long-time folk such as our vineyard manager George. He’s been with the business since it began (more than 20 years ago) and it’s safe to say he knows our vineyard inside and out.

Our Community

Though our winemaking philosophy is simple—to make great wines that reflect and represent what this region is capable of, we also know that it’s about a lot more. Our community really is central to everything we do and have done in this region for many years.

We believe that a strong community is the key to a happy and fulfilling family life and to the success of our region and its industry—from viticulture to agriculture, tourism and everything in-between. We are proud to live, work and play in a community that is supportive of one another and works together for the greater good of our environment, industry and people.

Being a country community, we’re quite fond of our sport too. And, so as not to play favourites (given that Mount Benson doesn’t have its own clubs), we currently sponsor netball and football teams from Kingston and Robe—Mt Benson sits in the middle!
