2022 Make Waves Syrah

The variety named Shiraz can often be described as Syrah if the style follows the Rhone style of France. Our cool climate region brings out compounds like rotundone which is responsible for the distinct white pepper character in this wine. Complexity and elegance are the keys.

This wine is a blend of 3 blocks (A2, B12 and C1) all of which are planted to the highest quality 1654 clone, known for its lifted fruit. Each of the components were fermented cool, looking to preserve the spiciness of the fruit which balances beautifully with the dark berry characters typical of S\the Syrah style. The wine was aged for 14 months in second and third use hogsheads (both French and American).
