2022 Norfolk Rise Merlot

Norfolk Rise has 4 separate blocks of estate grown Merlot. Each have the D3V14 clone which is the most popularly planted clone in Australia. Known primarily for its supple fruit and elegance.

The growing season for the 2022 was ideal, with sufficient early rainfall backed by abundant sunshine for ripening. Yields were solid and the resulting fruit was exceptional, perfect for cool climate winegrowing.

Initially, each block was harvested and fermented separately but ultimately blended once its contribution is confirmed. The ferments were kept reasonably cool to retain brightness and controlled tannin uptake. Minimal maceration/intervention was employed prior to ageing in 2nd and 3rd use hogsheads (300L).
